Thoughts on Illegal Immigration

To liberals, if you think an open border is a good idea, think again. There's also a dark side of illegal immigration such as drug trafficking, sex trafficking, gang violence, and it's a strain to our economic resources.

To conservatives, if you think by using minute men and state police to help deport illegal immigrants, also think again. All you're doing is throwing money at a never ending battle.

When people live in poverty, they do not care if they break the rules. They will do what ever they can do in order to survive. The U.S. can't stop illegal immigration until these countries improve their economy and stop corruption.

The only way to stop corruption is by giving the gangs and the mafioso a reason to stop doing business with the U.S. End the "War on Drugs" stance because it's making things worse. All we are doing is creating an underground market where there are no rules. At least get us into a position where we can regulate and control the use of these drugs.

This is just a fraction of my two cents on illegal immigration. Both sides of the issue are treating the symptoms and not the source.

Damn You Tyson!

If you love your meat, do not make the same mistake as I did by watching the process of producing commercial beef and poultry. Don't get me wrong, I still like a steak every now and then. However, the thought of mass produced cattle and chicken make me nauseated. I'm not going to go into details.

Support your local farmers by buying meat and poultry from them. It helps in decreasing prices on naturally raised meats and puts money back in to your local economy. You can also substitute meat by using TVP, tofu, or tempeh. Meat by itself is bland, it's the spices that make the dish. The soy products are "supposed" to simulate the texture of meat. If all goes well tonight, I will be replacing TVP for commercial ground beef.

My Suggestion on Health Insurance

We should have individual coverage which focuses on preventative care that is similar to auto insurance. If you decide to treat your body like a Hertz Rent-A-Car, you deserve the brunt of the cost. The media puts much of the blame on the government, insurance companies, and doctors, but I do not hear much about how much we contribute to driving up premiums is wasteful visits and issues that could have been prevented. In other words lay off the cheeseburgers, booze, and cigarettes, drive carefully, and maybe hit the gym up a little more.
